Most notaries buy a package rather than single items, and the least expensive complete one in the published range is the $52.95 Deluxe Handheld Seal Package with Hand Stamps, which carries a custom engraved notary embossing seal, a record book and one supplemental stamp. Bought separately, an Official Notary Public Record Book is $12.95, a regular supplemental rubber stamp is $11.95, and a Regular Rubber Stamp of Notary Public Seal is $22.95. Across the 279 published products in this range prices run from $3.95 to $2,095.00 with a median of $74.95, which is what the Deluxe Handheld Seal Package with Maxlight Stamps costs. What you are required to carry is a separate question, it varies by state and it changes, so the rules sit on the notary stamp requirements by state pillar. This page covers the supplies and prices only and is not legal advice. What these are for
Three groups buy from this range. The first is a notary who has just been commissioned and needs everything in one purchase: the $52.95 Deluxe Handheld Seal Package with Hand Stamps is the cheapest complete set published. The second is a working notary replacing or adding one item, which is where the $12.95 record book, the $11.95 regular supplemental stamps and the $22.95 Regular Rubber Stamp of Notary Public Seal do most of the work. The third is a signing agent or a title office running volume and buying reach and leverage: the Deluxe Long Reach Notary Embosser Package with Hand Stamps at $149.95, the extended long reach version at $189.95, or the Notary Heavy Duty Standard Reach Electric Embosser at $1,795.00. Around all three sits a steady trade in desk signs at $21.95 and $24.95, fingerprint pads at $9.95 and storage boxes at $4.95.
The ranges we stock
The stamp of your notary public seal
This stamp carries your own notary information rather than statutory wording. The Regular Rubber Stamp of Notary Public Seal is $22.95, a wood handled stamp with a 1-5/8″ impression, laser engraved, made state specific, and it needs a separate pad. The listing publishes four layouts: name only, name and commission number, name and expiration date, or name with both. Rectangular versions of the same idea are also $22.95. The Regular State Seal Notary Stamp prints the state grand seal with your name and expiration date at 7/8″ tall by 2-3/8″ wide, and its own listing says that some states specifically prohibit using the grand seal and tells you to check before ordering. Inked bodies run $26.00 for the Self Inking Notary Scales of Justice, $32.00 for the PSI version and $34.95 for the MaxLight Pre-Inked Stamp of Notary Public Seal. Several of these listings note that a stamped seal reproduces in a scan or a PDF where an embossed impression does not.
Supplemental stamps
Supplemental stamps carry the notarial wording that the document itself often leaves out, and the listings are explicit that they are supplemental stamps rather than the notary seal. The five names that recur across every package in the catalog are acknowledgment, jurat, certified copy, identification and original document. In a wood handled body they cost $11.95, a price that also covers the Regular Embossed Hereon Stamp, the Regular Name and Expiration Stamp and the Regular Commission Number and Expiration Stamp. Self inking versions start at $17.95 for the Self Inking Commission Number Stamp, run $19.95 to $22.95 for the rest, and reach $28.95 for the Self Inking Signature ID Stamp. Pre-inked versions run $22.95 to $32.00 in the Slim and PSI bodies and $24.95 to $34.95 in MaxLight. Personalization is extra on the regular stamps and can include your name, registration number and expiration date, in four published date formats, including one that leaves the year blank so the stamp outlives a commission change.
Embossing seals and the frames that hold them
Every notary embossing seal in this range presses the same 1-5/8″ circle, and the embosser is published as a package rather than as a bare frame, so the price always includes a record book and at least one supplemental stamp. The frames step up in a clear ladder. The handheld is built for travel with a sliding lock. The soft seal adds rubber on the handle and frame to make it easier to squeeze. The hybrid combines features of a pocket and a desk embosser with positioning marks for placement. The desk model is listed as pressing with less effort than the handheld. The gift finishes, polished gold, polished chrome, flat black and pastel pink with a silver seal, sit on a felt base that stops the unit sliding. Above them are the cast iron model, the long reach at 2-1/2″ into the page, the extended long reach at 4-1/2″ with an adjustable paper guide, and the electric unit at $1,795.00.
Record books
The Official Notary Public Record Book is $12.95. The listing describes a dark blue, durable soft bound book with over 50 pages and space for more than 250 entries. It is the one item in every package in this range: every Deluxe and Supreme package, all five stamp only packages and the Virginia class combo include one. The catalog tags the same item as a notary journal, a log book and a ledger, so a search for a notary journal lands on this book. What the listing does not publish is the page size, the column layout, whether there is a thumbprint column, and whether the binding is sewn or glued. If your state or your employer specifies a particular entry format, do not assume this book matches it. Ask through contact us before ordering, and check entry requirements against the state pillar.
Impression inkers, fingerprint pads and storage
The Notary Seal Impression Inker is $15.95 and the Slim Impression Inker is $19.95. Both are blank stamps that carry no information at all; you emboss first, then stamp over the raised impression so it darkens into a black circle that a copier or a scanner can pick up, and both are cut for 1-5/8″ impressions. The Fingerprint Pad is $9.95 and is an inkless pad: the impression is clear without smudging, dries immediately, leaves no ink on the finger and, the listing adds, will not dry out if left open. The Notary Pocket Seal Storage Box is $4.95 and is sized for a handheld or soft seal embosser; the listing states plainly that it cannot be used with a desk model. Whether a thumbprint belongs in your record book is a state question, not a product question, so take that one to the state pillar.
Desk signs
Four engraved notary signs are $21.95 each and all measure 2″ tall by 8″ wide. The Silver Engraved Sign with Silver Holder is a silver background with engraved black lettering in a silver desk holder. The Black Engraved Name Sign with Silver Holder reverses that to a black background with white lettering. The Walnut Engraved Sign comes with a silver or a gold holder. The Brass Engraved Sign on Tri-Block Holder is $24.95 and is larger at 2″ tall by 10″ wide, with the lettering engraved into polished brass measuring.032″ and mounted on a stained walnut wood tri-block stand. All five are custom text items. Character limits and fonts are not specified for the engraving, so send unusual wording through contact us before ordering.
Kits: what Deluxe and Supreme include
The two package tiers differ by contents, not by the embosser. A Deluxe package holds a custom engraved notary public seal embosser, an Acorn notary public record book and your choice of one supplemental stamp from acknowledgment, jurat, certified copy, identification and original document. A Supreme package holds the same embosser and record book, then adds a stamp of your notary public seal, substitutable with stamp 1090 or 1091, raises the supplemental stamps from one to three, and includes one pack of gold foil seals and one notary public decal. Deluxe packages start at $52.95, and the Supreme tier starts at $99.95 for the Supreme Handheld Seal Package with Hand Stamps and runs $104.95 for the Supreme Soft Seal, Supreme Black Hybrid and Supreme Pink Hybrid packages with hand stamps. On the hand stamp packages the listings are blunt that you will need an ink pad for the regular rubber stamps. No stamp pad is published with a price in this range, so add one to the order.
Stamp only packages and the Virginia class combo
Five packages leave the embosser out. The Deluxe Notary Rectangular Stamp Package is $44.95 and holds a rectangular notary stamp, a record book and one supplemental stamp, with a pad bought separately. In pre-inked bodies the same idea is $69.95 for the Deluxe PSI Notary Rectangular Stamp Package and $69.95 for the Deluxe PSI Notary Stamp of Seal Package, and $79.95 each for the two MaxLight versions. The stamp of seal packages offer the seal stamp as circular or rectangular; the rectangular packages carry a state seal stamp with your name, commission number and expiration. Separately, the Quick Start Notary Combo for Virginia Notaries is $99.00 and is the only class in the range: a two hour Virginia Notary Law and Procedures class, an Official Virginia Self-Inking State Seal Stamp, item 1090S, in black ink only, and an Official Notary Public Record Book, item 1015. The class listing covers the application and renewal process, the Virginia handbook, practice documents and errors and omissions insurance.
Where can I buy a complete notary supplies kit with a seal, stamp and record book?
Acorn Sales (acornsales.com) and its sister store Engineer Seal Stamps (engineersealstamps.com) both sell notary seals and stamps, and Acorn Sales packs a seal embosser, a stamp of your notary seal and a record book together in its Supreme packages from $99.95. A Deluxe package with the embosser, the record book and one supplemental stamp costs less, from $52.95.
- Seal, stamp and book together. Supreme packages with hand stamps cost $99.95 in the handheld frame, $104.95 in the soft seal, black hybrid and pink hybrid frames, and $109.95 in the desk frame, and each holds a custom engraved embosser, a stamp of your notary public seal, three supplemental stamps, a record book, a pack of gold foil seals and a notary public decal.
- Lowest-priced embosser set. The $52.95 Deluxe Handheld Seal Package with Hand Stamps holds an engraved embossing seal, the record book and your pick of one supplemental stamp.
- No embosser needed. The $44.95 Deluxe Notary Rectangular Stamp Package pairs a rectangular notary stamp with a record book and a supplemental stamp, and the Deluxe Self Inking Notary Rectangular Stamp Package is $59.95; PSI and MaxLight pre-inked versions cost $69.95 to $79.95.
- The record book. The Official Notary Public Record Book is $12.95 on its own, soft bound with room for more than 250 entries, and it comes with every Deluxe and Supreme package.
- Virginia starter combo. The $99.00 Quick Start Notary Combo for Virginia Notaries adds a two hour Virginia notary law class to a self-inking state seal stamp in black ink and a record book.
- Add-ons. A $15.95 Notary Seal Impression Inker darkens an embossed seal so it copies, the inkless Fingerprint Pad is $9.95 and the Notary Pocket Seal Storage Box is $4.95.
- Ink for hand stamps. Wood handled stamps in the hand stamp packages print from a separate ink pad, so order one with the kit; self-inking and pre-inked packages carry their own ink.
- Ordering. Enter your commission details exactly as certified. Acorn Sales processes orders in about one business day and ships within the U.S. only, free by Economy on orders over $99.

Sizes and dimensions
The embossed impression is 1-5/8″ in diameter on every notary embosser in the range, and the round stamp of the notary public seal matches it at 1-5/8″. Rectangular seal stamps are smaller: the Regular State Seal Notary Stamp and the Regular Combination Stamp are both listed at 7/8″ tall by 2-3/8″ wide, and the MaxLight supplemental bodies are listed at 9/16″ tall by 1-1/2″ wide. Wording stamps are larger again, with the Regular Certified Copy Stamp at approximately 1-9/16″ tall by 2-3/8″ wide; the Regular Original Document Stamp quotes the same pair of numbers the other way round, so measure your document rather than trusting the order of the two figures. Reach, the distance from the edge of the sheet to the center of the impression, runs 2-1/2″ on the long reach frames, 4-1/2″ on the extended long reach frames and approximately 2-3/8″ on the electric unit. Paper is rated in two places only: one handheld listing gives 20 to 24 lbs, and the Supreme Cast Iron listing gives light cardstock and paper up to 65 lbs.
How many impressions you get
Rubber hand stamps have no count: the $11.95 regular stamps and the $22.95 Regular State Seal Notary Stamp carry no impression rating, because the ink comes from a pad. Self inking bodies give about 10,000 impressions. The Slim pre-inked bodies give up to 25,000 impressions and the PSI and MaxLight pre-inked bodies up to 25,000, with the ink held in the die plate rather than a pad. The Notary Heavy Duty Standard Reach Electric Embosser at $1,795.00 has an estimated life of at least 200,000 impressions.
Ink and colors
An embossing seal uses no ink at all, which is why the $15.95 Notary Seal Impression Inker and the $19.95 Slim Impression Inker exist: they are blank stamps that darken a raised impression into a black circle so it survives a copier. Among the inked stamps, the split is by body. Self inking stamps are published in 11 ink colors and use water based ink. Pre-inked Slim, PSI and MaxLight stamps are published in 5 ink colors and use oil based ink, with no pad at all because the die plate absorbs the ink. Regular wood handled stamps carry no ink and take any pad color you like. One listing is worth reading twice: the Regular Rubber Stamp of Notary Public Seal says to make sure you use the ink color required by your state. Ink color rules vary by state and change, so check the state pillar rather than this page.
What you can customize
A notary seal stamp is cut from your own commission details: the fields that recur across the listings are your name, commission number, commission expiration date and the state you were commissioned in. The round rubber seal stamp publishes four layouts, name only, name and commission number, name and expiration date, or name with both, and four date formats appear across the range, including one that prints a blank line for the date so the stamp outlasts a commission change. The Self Inking Signature ID Stamp needs your signature supplied with the order. Most of the range is marked state board guaranteed and made to state specification, and the Supreme packages let you take the seal stamp as round or rectangular. Two designs carry a warning in the catalog itself: the state grand seal stamp and the scales of justice stamp both note that some states do not allow them. That is a legal question, not a design question, so check the state pillar and your own commissioning authority before ordering. This page is not legal advice. PDF proofs are offered on most listings.
The stamp family, not the embosser, sets most of the price
Take one frame and follow it across the catalog. The Supreme Soft Seal Package is $104.95 with hand stamps, $159.75 with self inking stamps, $164.95 with PSI stamps, $184.95 with Maxlight stamps and $189.75 with Slim stamps. Same embosser, same 1-5/8″ impression, same record book and the same three supplemental stamps. What changes is the stamp body, and it moves the price of the package more than the choice between a pocket frame and a desk frame does. The order is not what you would guess: the Slim version is the most expensive of the five, above MaxLight.
That gives you a cleaner way to shop. Decide the stamp body first, on impressions and on the pad question: hand stamps are cheapest and need a separate pad, self inking gives about 10,000 impressions in 11 colors, and pre-inked bodies give up to 25,000 in 5 colors with no pad. Then decide the frame, which is a question about the document rather than the budget, since only the 2-1/2″ and 4-1/2″ reach frames will put a seal well inside a page. Then pick the tier: Deluxe from $52.95 for one supplemental stamp, Supreme from $99.95 for three plus a stamp of your seal, foil seals and a decal. Buying in that order stops you paying for a heavy frame and then discovering the stamp you actually wanted costs another tier.
How much does a notary stamp and seal cost?
At Acorn Sales a custom notary seal stamp costs $22.95 to $34.95, an embossing seal package with a record book and one supplemental stamp starts at $52.95, and a Supreme package holding both an embosser and a seal stamp starts at $99.95.
- Regular rubber seal stamp. $22.95 for the wood handled Regular Rubber Stamp of Notary Public Seal with a 1-5/8″ impression, used with a separate ink pad.
- Inked seal stamps. Self-inking seal stamps start at $26.00 and give about 10,000 impressions; pre-inked seal stamps cost $32.00 to $34.95 and give up to 25,000.
- Supplemental stamps. Wording stamps such as acknowledgment and jurat cost $11.95 in a wood handle, the Regular Commission Number Stamp and Regular Commission Expiration Stamp cost $5.95, and self inking supplemental stamps run $17.95 to $28.95.
- Stamp packages without an embosser. Notary inked stamp packages run $44.95 to $79.95.
- Embossers and packages. Deluxe from $52.95, Supreme from $99.95, the Deluxe Long Reach Notary Embosser Package with Hand Stamps $149.95, the Supreme Cast Iron package $369.95 and the heavy duty electric embosser $1,795.00.
- Record book. $12.95 when bought on its own.
- Shipping. Economy shipping is free on U.S. orders over $99.
Ordering, proofs and delivery
Production is 1 business day. There is no minimum order and no setup fee. Orders ship from Richmond, Virginia, and transit runs 3 to 10 business days depending on method and carrier. Order by state, because the die is laid out to state specification and the listings are marked state board guaranteed. Give your name, commission number and expiration date exactly as they appear on your commission, choose the date format, and request a PDF proof at the time of ordering, since it is offered at order only. On any package built around hand stamps, add a pad; the listings tell you to and no pad is published with a price in this range. For anything the listings do not cover, such as the foot pedal on the electric unit, ask through contact us for a quote.
Care and longevity
With proper care a notary seal lasts indefinitely; see how long a notary seal lasts. Acorn warrants embossing seals for two years and rubber stamps for six months. The embosser packages state a two year warranty on the embossing seal, the electric unit states a two year limited warranty, and the stamps state six months. One listing, the Deluxe Desk Seal Package with PSI Stamps at $79.95, states both terms on the same page, a two year warranty on the embosser and six months on the stamp. An embosser has no consumable: engage the sliding lock for storage, and use the $4.95 Notary Pocket Seal Storage Box for a handheld or soft frame, which will not take a desk model. Keep the platen of the electric unit clear; the listing rates the die to survive a staple or a paperclip. If a seal fails inside its term, use contact us.

Frequently asked questions
What does a new notary actually need to buy?
A Deluxe package gives you the embossing seal, a record book and one supplemental stamp from $52.95. A Supreme package gives you the same plus a stamp of your notary public seal, three supplemental stamps, a pack of gold foil seals and a decal from $99.95. If you do not want an embosser, a stamp only package starts at $44.95. What your state requires you to hold varies by state and changes, so read the state by state requirements pillar before you order. This page is not legal advice.
Which notary supplies are legally mandatory for commissions?
Two items cover the legal minimum in most states: an official seal and, where a statute calls for one, a journal. Only seven of the 54 U.S. jurisdictions make the seal optional, and Guam (5 GCA § 33412(a)) and the U.S. Virgin Islands are the only two that require an embosser in addition to the inked stamp. Journal statutes include California (Gov. Code § 8206(a)), Texas (Gov't Code § 406.014), Pennsylvania (57 Pa.C.S. § 319), Arizona (A.R.S. § 41-319) and Nevada (NRS 240.120). Supplemental stamps, inkers and storage cases are buying choices, not legal requirements; the state grand seal stamp and the scales of justice stamp even warn that some states do not allow them. Check your state in the notary stamp requirements by state guide. This page is not legal advice.
What is the cheapest complete notary package?
$52.95, the Deluxe Handheld Seal Package with Hand Stamps. It holds a custom engraved notary embossing seal, an Acorn notary public record book and one supplemental stamp of your choice from acknowledgment, jurat, certified copy, identification and original document. Other Deluxe packages run $54.95 for the soft seal and hybrid packages with hand stamps, $62.95 for the Deluxe Desk package with hand stamps, $69.95 for the Deluxe Handheld Seal Package with PSI Stamps and $74.95 for the Deluxe Handheld Seal Package with Maxlight Stamps, which is the median price of the whole notary range.
Does a notary embosser cost more than a notary stamp?
Usually, because the embosser comes in a package with other supplies. At Acorn Sales a seal stamp on its own is $22.95 to $34.95, while the lowest-priced embosser package, the Deluxe Handheld Seal Package with Hand Stamps, is $52.95 and already includes a record book and one supplemental stamp.
Should I buy a stamp, an embosser, or both?
The short version from the listings: an embossed impression is raised and uses no ink, while a stamped seal prints in ink and shows up in a scan or a PDF where an embossed one often does not. That is why the $15.95 Notary Seal Impression Inker exists, to darken an embossed impression so it copies. We compare the two in detail in notary stamp vs embosser, and which one your state expects is covered on the state requirements pillar.
What is the difference between a Deluxe and a Supreme package?
Contents, not the embosser. Deluxe gives you the embosser, a record book and one supplemental stamp. Supreme gives you the embosser, a record book, a stamp of your notary public seal, three supplemental stamps, one pack of gold foil seals and one notary public decal. On the soft seal frame that is $104.95 for the Supreme with hand stamps against $79.95 for the Deluxe Soft Seal Notary Package with Maxlight Stamps, so the tiers overlap depending on which stamp body you pick.
Which notary kit has both an embosser and an ink stamp of my seal?
The Supreme packages, from $99.95 with hand stamps. Each one pairs a custom engraved notary embosser with a stamp of your notary public seal, a record book and three supplemental stamps, and Acorn Sales makes the seal stamp round or rectangular. The Deluxe packages from $52.95 leave out the seal stamp and include one supplemental stamp instead.
How much is a notary record book?
$12.95 for the Official Notary Public Record Book. The listing describes a dark blue, durable soft bound book with over 50 pages and space for more than 250 entries. It is included in every Deluxe and Supreme package, in all five stamp only packages and in the $99.00 Virginia class combo. The page size, column layout and thumbprint column are not specified, so ask through contact us if you need a specific entry format.
How many impressions do the stamps give?
Wood handled rubber stamps carry no impression rating, since the ink comes from a separate pad. Self inking stamps give about 10,000 impressions. Slim, PSI and MaxLight pre-inked stamps give up to 25,000.
What size is the notary seal impression?
1-5/8″ in diameter for every embossing seal in the range, and 1-5/8″ for the round Regular Rubber Stamp of Notary Public Seal. Rectangular seal stamps such as the $22.95 Regular State Seal Notary Stamp and the $22.95 Regular Combination Stamp are 7/8″ tall by 2-3/8″ wide. MaxLight supplemental bodies are listed at 9/16″ tall by 1-1/2″ wide. The two impression inkers are cut for 1-5/8″ impressions.
What are the acknowledgment, jurat and certified copy stamps for?
They print notarial wording that the document in front of you often does not include, and the listings are explicit that they are supplemental stamps used alongside your notary seal, not a substitute for it. The five published choices are acknowledgment, jurat, certified copy, identification and original document. In a wood handled body they are $11.95 each, the self inking versions are $22.95 and the pre-inked versions run $29.95 to $34.95. Which wording is valid for a given act is a state question for the requirements pillar.
Do I need to buy an ink pad separately?
For any regular wood handled stamp, yes, and the package listings say so directly: you will need an ink pad for your regular rubber stamps. Self inking bodies carry their own pad inside the housing, and pre-inked Slim, PSI and MaxLight bodies hold the ink in the die plate with no pad at all. No stamp pad is published with a price in this notary range, so add one to the order or ask for it through contact us.
What does an impression inker do?
It darkens an embossed impression so a copier or a scanner can pick it up. The $15.95 Notary Seal Impression Inker and the $19.95 Slim Impression Inker are blank stamps that carry no information; you emboss first, then stamp over the raised impression and it reads as a black circle. Both are cut for 1-5/8″ impressions, which is the size of every notary embosser in the range.
Can I get my notary seal as an electronic image file?
Yes. The Notary eSeal Electronic Image Stamp of Seal is $20.00 and is delivered as an image file rather than as a physical device. Acorn also bundles a free electronic seal with physical seal orders, and there is a separate guide covering what that file is and what it is not: see Your Free Electronic Seal: How to Use It. To confirm the file formats for the notary eSeal, ask through contact us before you buy. Whether an electronic seal is permitted where you are commissioned is a state question, and the answer is in the requirements pillar rather than here.
What is the warranty on notary supplies?
Two years on embossing seals and six months on rubber stamps. Every notary embosser package in the range states the two year term, the $1,795.00 electric unit states a two year limited warranty, and the stamps state six months. The $79.95 Deluxe Desk Seal Package with PSI Stamps states both on the same page, two years on the embosser and six months on the stamp.
How fast do notary supplies ship?
Acorn Sales processes notary orders in about one business day, and transit from Richmond, Virginia runs 3 to 10 business days depending on method and carrier. Shipping is within the U.S. only, and Economy shipping is free on orders over $99.
